Our Legacy

Treehouse Montessori began in 2006 with Louanne Johnson, an experienced Montessori Directress.  With Louanne’s passion and fervor for the Montessori philosophy, she was inspired to create more options for exceptional Montessori education in Fort Collins. Together with her assistant Rhonda Robertson and a group of amazing parents, they worked to make Treehouse Montessori a reality.

In June of 2007, Treehouse Montessori opened its doors with a roster of ten children and three teachers. Upon Louanne’s retirement in 2009, Rhonda Robertson became the Director and proceeded to grow the school to employ eight teachers and house thirty-eight children. She also added a toddler program, as she felt we could better serve our community by providing care for a range of ages. Due to Rhonda’s love for the outdoor classroom environment and gardening, Rhonda strove to add a Nature Explore Classroom, which the preprimary classroom uses daily.

In October of 2014 Rhonda moved to Nashville Tennessee to follow her passion of farming. Rhonda and Louanne have both made lasting imprints on what Treehouse Montessori is, and will continue to be a part of Treehouse as they are both remain active advisors and supporters of Treehouse Montessori.
