Our School

Treehouse Montessori School started with the vision of Louanne Johnson. Her passion led her to the opening of Treehouse Montessori in 2003. We are a community-minded family, who offers care for children beginning in our toddler program through kindergarten. Our children have the opportunity to develop a love of nature as well as the opportunity to preserve and protect it. We at TMS believe through the guidance of the child, we can foster the development of the whole child, socially and academically, using the principles of Maria Montessori in an intimate community setting.

Nature outdoor classroom

Nature Explore Classrooms are nature-based play and learning spaces. Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom Design Services apply research-based, field-tested design principles to create these nature-rich outdoor spaces that can be located anywhere in a school, child care center, park, or other community site might have a traditional playground. Certified Nature Explore Classrooms enhance the physical environment and add natural beauty to the surrounding area. A network of Certified Nature Explore Classrooms is growing throughout the United States in elementary schools, early childhood programs, nature centers, military bases, national forests, parks and wildlife refuges, zoos, Head Start centers, arboretums, children’s museums, and other public spaces.

As a Nature Explore Inspired school, we encourage the children to explore the outdoor environment freely. We at TMS believe it is imperative to allow the children to investigate our outdoor classroom’s natural environment, sometimes resulting in messy exploration. We encourage all families to ensure your child’s cubby is stocked with a change of clothes and, at request, we will put your child into a change of fresh clothing at the end of the day.
